Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame

The Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA — honoring the greatest players, coaches, and contributors to the game.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, located in Springfield, Massachusetts, honors players, coaches, referees, and other significant contributors to the sport of basketball. Unlike the Baseball Hall of Fame, it is not limited to one league — international players, college coaches, and women's basketball figures are all eligible.

Induction requires nomination by the Hall's selection committees, followed by a vote by the Honors Committee. A candidate must receive at least 18 of 24 votes (75%) to be inducted. Players become eligible five years after retirement (reduced from the previous standard).

The Basketball Hall of Fame has historically been considered more "generous" than baseball's — a higher percentage of All-Star-caliber players have been inducted. However, this partly reflects the smaller pool of players in basketball (15-man rosters vs. 25-man in baseball).

AllFame's NBA HOF Score is calibrated against the historical induction rate, using Win Shares, BPM, awards, and milestones to project which active players are on track.
